Uluru/ Ayres Rock

This photo is to prove that we actually were at this amazing rock. It is so impressive and so massive - much more so than I had anticipated. And it looks different from different angles, at different times of the day.

The sandstone monolith stands 348 metres high, and like an iceberg, has most of its bulk hidden beneath the earth. Archaeological research suggests that Aboriginal people have been in the area for at least 22,000 years.

The following images are of The Rock from various perspectives.

Not sure what part of the day this was taken.

Sunset again.

On a misty day.

Sunset continuing.

Sunset about to start. There is a special viewing area both for sunrise and for sunset.

Sunrise continuing.

The beginning of sunrise.

Our first glimpse of this impressive monument.
